The Why, Where and When

36. B'midbar - In Your Lighting (B'haalotecha)

in which the Israelites receive instructions regarding Passover. They journey forth from Sinai and complain to God on several occasions, provoking God's anger. Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses.

On the Road again - Negotiating with G-d
1. Final Preparations for the Journey:
                a. Make the Menorah.
                b. Purify Levites for their Mishkan service.
                c. Offer the Pesach sacrifice.
                d. Make Two Silver trumpets for the leaders to communicate with the people.
2. G-d leads Israelites through Mishkan:
                a. Once the Miskan is ready, a cloud settles onto it by day, looking like fire by night.
                b. The Israelites follow the cloud when they travel and encamp, when the cloud settles.
3. Negotiating with G-d
G-d punishes, concedes and, sometimes, punishes again:
                a. People complain - fire burns them - Moses intercedes - G-d puts out the fire.
                B. Moses complains of his load - G-d makes 70 elders help Moses.
                c. People complain about the boring diet of manna - G-d gives them a meat - some die of plague.
                d. Miriam and Aron speak against Moses - Miriam gets leprosy - Moses intercedes -             Miriam is healed.
