Weighed down by desire to understand,
My soul dives into the depths of time,
Through the stench of crematoria and auto-da-fes,
To the joy of incense and Aharon’s bells.
Do we push our children away?
Steer them into the neutral territory?
Or hold them close,
Where danger might lurk?
Too late for me to ask.
Mine are very close,
Please,please protect them.
Only You can keep them safe.
